The lights began to dim, and the audience became silent, watching the stage intently, waiting for the mare they had heard so much about to begin her performance Octavia stood in her play pose, took a deep breath and thought to herself....
By Celestia, Illustrator barfed soo much when I made this it was insane. At one point it was using 7GB out of my 8GB of RAM during a render. Moral of the story, don't apply a blur to a warp unless you have a absolute beast of a computer, and several gigabytes of free space on your temp drive :/ It took 5 Hours to figure out the source of my massive RAM usage, but I reckon the result came out decently.
The background is 100% Original, which is a first for me, though next time I think i should be a little more careful with my layering. So if you download my source file, dont expect to be able to use it too well. I might release a background standalone for anyone who wants to use it. I am still not 100% happy with Octavia, but this vector was driving both me and my computer to their ends. Any suggestions on her are appreciated.

I love pictures that tell a story - and that's one reason (out of several) why I love this one. Even without the little tidbit you wrote up to go with it, it's clear what's going on here; this is an image that draws you in and reminds you that while it may only depict a moment frozen in time, there's a past and a future to it, events that led up to it and events that have yet to transpire.
I love Octavia's expression, too. She knows that she's a gifted cellist, and naturally she has practiced extensively, but still - a trace of lingering concern remains.
All the best of luck, Octavia. We all know you can do it, and so do you.
